Ways To Help

"Not being able to do everything is no excuse for not doing
everything you can."
— Albert Pike

With each rescue comes thousands of dollars of expenses (shavings, feed, tack, etc) and hundreds of hours of work (cleaning stalls, feeding, training, etc.)

ANYTHING anyone can do to help is greatly appreciated.

PICTURE FRAME FUNDRAISER

Donate $15 and get a custom picture frame!

You send us a picture of your horse, and your horse's name, and we will customize a wooden frame for you.  You also pick the background color.

** MAKE GREAT GIFTS**

These are not professional frames but they are hand painted, a lot of time is spend making it look just like YOUR horse (or your favorite horse).  It is our THANK YOU for donating to our very needy, injured horses.

Donate Tack
Our horses are sometimes in need of blankets, saddle pads, boots, girths, bits, and other tack.  We can also sell tack to earn money.
See Wish List  for ideas.

Donate Stable Supplies
We can always use feed, hay, coupons, treats, bucket warmers, fly sprays, linement, shavings!, ointments, stall toys, etc.  Partially used supplies can go a long way.

Donate Raffle Prizes
If you have something that we can sell or raffle off, please donate it!  It does not have to be horse related.  Ex) Manicure coupon, free oil change, free meal, etc. It can even be a service that you can offer at a discounted rate.

Volunteer
If you live in the Western Suffolk/Huntington area, and have time to donate, that would be greatly appreciated! We need help with feeding (am or pm), stalls, grooming, and giving the horses TLC.  We also need people to help organize fundraisers.

7) Purchase a Riding Lesson or Training Session or HORSE CARE LESSON (great for new horse owners who want to learn about caring for horses, wrapping, etc.)
I am acertified riding instructor, and I teach full time, both children and adults, English and Western.  Email me at FLequestrian@aol.com for more information about freelance instruction.  All proceeds will go toward the rescue.  Pony Rides available.

Offer a Horse Related Service
If you work in the horse industry and would be willing to donate or discount your services to the rescue horses this would be a huge help!

Spread the Word!
Email this link (www.HelpingHorsesNY.org) to any horse lovers that you may know of.  Spread the word about horse slaughter and encourage horse and stable owners to retire old horses instead of selling them. Call politicians and sign petitions to stop horse slaughter! Go to link... Voice Your Opinion!

 BE RESPONSIBLE!
More than anything, you can help by being a RESPONSIBLE horse owner.  This means:

A- do not breed your mare because she's "so good" or "so cute".  There are way too many unwanted horses (including baby horses) to bring another into this world. If you want a foal, go to an aution or rescue and you'll find hundreds of innnocet foals headed to slaughter.

B- your horse is YOUR responsibility! Whether you are jumping your horse or running barrels please make sure you have a backup plan for that horse when he can't perform to  your liking anymore. Your hard working best friend deserves a proper retirement.  If you must give the horse away make sure it is with a no sale/no breed contract and make sure that when horse is no longer useful to them that you are contacted so the horse is back in your hands... not in the hands of a horse dealer/auction.
