If you made it to this site you must be a huge horse lover and may even want to become part of a horse rescue mission! Throughout the year we save slaughter-bound horses (one or two at a time), rehabilitate them, and adopt them out to new, forever homes.  We also work with some stable owners and help them find places to retire their hard working school and trail horses when they can no longer be ridden.  Many horses out there were abused and others have spent their entire lives helping people without getting much in return.  We believe that these horses deserve a happy ending.   Please read the website and feel free to contact us with any questions, comments, etc!

Rescue Log 2009:

My 2009 mission has begun.  I am heading to New Holland auction on Monday, December 29, 2008 to save two slaughter-bound horses.  The plan is to mentally and physically rehabilitate these horses and then adopt them out to a forever home.  This is a physically and financially difficult journey, but in the end there will be lives saved, and the word will be spread about the horrors of horse slaughter.

Helping Horses
(verb or adjective?)

The name "Helping Horses" has a double meaning.  Of course, anyone who gives to this cause, or spreads the word about horse slaughter, is giving to horses.  I also look at it as horses giving to us.  As we help them get better we get something in return.  We feel their thanks and we get happy knowing that we are on this earth giving to others.
